the only thing I tend to break on these cars is bulkheads. have broken the shock towers (but they were cracked for couple weekends till they let go) and have seen rear braces break. including myself. other than that it is good to have: shock shafts linkage ball ends wheel nuts set of CVDs clutch bell and spur. all the suspension plastic arms, hubs whatever. that should be the minimum. but is all kind of moot since whatever you do not have is what will break.... ![]() |

I guess it somewhat depends on how crazy of a driver you are, or how hard your track is on cars. I honestly can't see the front arms, hubs, or carriers on the 808 ever breaking, but I guess it's possible. The new car has stronger rod ends, which I did break one of last year while traveling at absolute max speed. The bulkheads and pinion bearings were susceptible to breakage on the 08 car, but they have all been beefed up for 09. Parts I have never broke on an Xray car that lots of people keep as spares (I've been running Xray for 3 years now, TQ, EC, XT8, 808): Fuel tank Front lower arm Front shock tower Suspension arm mount (the std plastic ones are indestructible) Any hinge pin Front shock shaft (bent a rear one once, because the arm was so worn out it allowed for rearward movement) Any drive shaft Diff ring or pinion gear Any steering rack/servo saver part Any rear camber link part Shock rod end Never lost a wheelnut (with my username I suppose I had better not!) Wing mount The point I'm trying to make is that the 808 is really strong and only the most murderous track layouts seem to be able to snap something on an Xray car. Any wear part though should be kept on hand though, because that seems to be where all the problems occur, for me at least. My causaulty list looks like this though: A few front steering knuckles on the old XB8 One front upper arm on the old XB8 Two front camber turnbuckles on the old XB8 One rear arm on the old XB8 One slightly bent rear shock shaft on the old XB8 Two toe turnbuckles on the old XB8 One toe rod end on the 808 One front bulkhead on the 808 cracked, two bulkheads shredded from the pinion bearings blowing Lots of oval-ed out shock guide plastic washers Lots of O-rings Lost one drive pin on an XT8 CVD Two clutch bells due to blown bearings One clutch bell and a spur gear due to loose engine screws Any time you break something on an Xray it is memorable because it's an amazing feat, lol. If you run on a track with crazy jumps or crazy drivers you will probably want to go with lists more like what the guys above have posted, because anything can happen in those situations. If you run on a track that is a bit more flat or easier on cars I don't think it is really necessary to carry a lot of spare parts, unless you've got the cash to buy them I guess, or if there is no one else in the area running Xray or the LHS has zero Xray support. Side note: Don't know why I felt the need to make that post so ridiculously long, anyway... |
