I clear the mud off with a quick blip of the throttle in the pit or back at the pit table. Leave them to dry and the use a stiff brush to brush the rest off.

This works for me - give them a brush at the track as needed



If they're really dirty I run them under the shower head when I get home, being careful to avoid getting water into the holes in the wheels, then stand them in the airing cupboard to dry out

If you turn the tap on warm and hold the wheel/tyre under it with the dish facing up you'll find you don't get any water in the little holes. All you need to do is work the dirt out with your hands, just push, fold and move the positioning of the rubber around and the dirt will work it's way out between the treads.
