The text under those selection boxes describes the question you are asking about. For the front arms, the check box shows how many shims are positioned behind the arm. Any remaining slop should be filled with the shims at the front of the arm. The reverse it true for the rear suspension. The check box indicates how many shims are positioned at the front of the arm. You will always want to shims the arms so there is no slop, so it is only necessary to indicate the number of shims on one side of the arm to indicate position.
