Yes I also think the C5Q is an awesome motor. It has much better run time and plenty of power to boot. |

I do mostly the Bess method wich was mostly my method till he started preaching it.I still do 1 tank 1/2 tank at a time on the box with the head wrapped looking for 200 -220 deg f,then its more or less close to the link. All my motors last a long time except my OS. http://www.johnnycoolguy.com/JCGR/main/ ... ak-in.html |

This is how I break my motors in: KEY --> Buy a gallon of r/c airplane fuel - 10% nitro, 11% synthetic oil, 11% castor oil. Strap the motor in my break-in bench (HUDY of course), and heat it up to 180"F with my heat gun, cover the whole heat sink except for the bottom fin and I'll start it a let it run REALLY fat and slow (high idle) for 2 tanks letting it cool with the piston at Bottom Dead Center (BDC) between tanks keeping the running temp around 180" to 200"F. I'll lean it out a little and raise the RPM's keeping the running temp around 180"-200"F, and cycle 3 more tanks through like this letting it cool to ambient temp between tanks WITH PISTON AT BDC. After this I'll let the motor run for about a half gallon straight at a little higher rpm and leaned out a little more (keeping temp around 190"-200"F). My motors are very consistent and last a LONG time after doing it like this. I think the key is the Airplane fuel as it really lubricates the motor well and is made for use with a prop. |
