Handouts dont fit there baz. Get a hyper8 mount i think they have the big hole in the middle for them.

Are handout/hire transponders different size or something then?

Hand outs are huge.Been a while since I seen one but like 1 1/2"x1 1/4"x5/8" & have a big body post looking knob that you put through a hole on your body & hold with a body clip. Most MFG make provisions with a seperate mount for them but its been so long since I seen one I guess I didnt pay attention to not having one. You can also fix a piece of lexan(body matterial) to the normal mount to hold it but it needs to be accessable because it needs to go back to the tower right after your race for charging/next barrower.

I used a handout transponder once or twice (before I got my own one) and that was an AMB transponder like the one I have.

I can't see why handout ones are different, no reason for it.

I know the MRD? Variety are a bit bigger but they hold more info (presets), right?

Anyway good to know that handouts are bigger and don't fit on the mounting brackets etc for future use or knowledge.

I've been surprised once when racing abroad and didn't have transponder for my buggy. I think you guys are talking about the big transponders that have rechargeable battery inside. I thought it was some old system but my own AMBrc transponder with leads worked fine so... Anyway I also charged the big one before final just to be sure it had enough power in. With the old system and old transponders it was a real pain that often they didn't work or battery was just dead after half the race.

I was so surprised that I even made a picture of the think... I just strapped it down with some zip-ties that day.I really didn't want to make a big hole in the body for one race to mount that damn thing

Fortunately our hand-outs are the usual transponders with power lead that goes into Rx.

Front bumper is where I have my PTs in all my on road cars & 1/10 gas trucks. Inside a nice soft foam bumper is super safe even with the way I drive. Believe it or not your idea would of helped me out in several buggy races, stuck in the B-main by .01 seconds sucks although 1 less crash would have got me there too.

Baz,who is crazy enough to use real transponders as handouts? Someone richer than me I would say. I have in the past but I dont even like loaning my spare ones out to friends.

maybe couse PT´s are cheaper than the big hand out transponders ( 74€ PT...100€ handout Transponder) not to forget the 30-50€ for news rechargeble batteries.


Another good place is the Wing..just drill a 8mm hole in the wing...it becomes dirty but u can get it off very fast...
