The Ofna starter box is great I use 2 of them 1 for my XT8 and 1 for my 808. I use a 12v battery and it's the 7A battery you want. For example http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.as ... BCATID=250 Not too sure on the servos as I use Ace 1015 servos. |

The Ofna Box is good, but I would reccomend either the Lipo starter box packs that are availible or two stick packs. I have the old chrome top Ofna box and bought the 12V batt for it when it was new. the 12v Batts just dont have the juice to wing the box over hard enough. The Lipos or the stick packs pack more power. Plus that 12V weighs alot. The Mugen Box is nice, I Have one of those for the buggy and run 2 3600 sticks in that. Small compact starter box and works great. |

I know that some starter boxes do run "lower voltage rated" motors with 12V or 14.4V accus to get some "extra power" (even if they may be connected in series). With full accus the motors will get quite abuse and often they burn out. With such high voltage the probability is even bigger. Other boxes will handle it fine. And it is always wise to run in brushed motors with lower voltages and with no load. Do it with the starter box engines also! Don't go starting new engine with a new starter box with LiPos or the fun won't last long. Just one thing to think about. But I also think LiPos for starter boxes is great. Gotta make the move myself too. |
