Post subject: | Flywheel starter box options? |
Right now my flywheel sticks out from the botton of the chassie and its stalling my car if I over jump the jumps. I had to put this larger flywheel on it becuase the original xray flywheel was too far up in the chassie and the starter box wheel hit the chassie before it got to the flywheel. So after all that, im thinking I need a different starter box that will allow me to use a small fly wheel. Had a problem like this? |

Which car and box you have? This problem is strange, haven't heard of it before with Xrays. When you use stock or other "normal" 1:8 offroad car flywheel on the car you should not have any problems. Maybe the starter box rubber flywheel is worn out or maybe the box is for smaller scale cars? On my XB8 and XT8 the flywheel (stock Xray on both) is about 1 - 1.5mm above the chassis plate underside. |

I think it's just a alignment problem it sounds like MadBrad. 99.9% of the time,,that is the issue. the other 1 percent is the starter wheel, (worn out or sitting to low in the box) You shouldn't have to change from the Xray flywheel. You should be able to shim the starter motor upwards inside the box with some washers or shims if needed. I have a Ofna starter box with a big start wheel, and a little mugen box, with a very small start wheel. Both of them will start either of my 1/8 scale rigs. It did take some adjustment to get them to work, as it does with any start box. A very narrow slot on the chassis of the Xray, everything has to be pretty much dead on and no movement of the align post when you push down to start. If you are grinding rubber on the chassis, something is not quite lined up right, or you have a worn groove on the rubber start wheel. |
