Post subject: | broken plastic balljoints? |
well while cleaning the car down and rebuilding i noticed i had 2 broken/split plastic balljoints..one is the front camber link, the other is the front shock bottom, both split in exactly the same place. i had a couple of rolls on sunday but nothing major, certainly nothing worthy of breaking anything..freak breakages?? this was a brand new car sunday morning too with 10 mins running on it ![]() we were going off for a practice wednesday..doh! dave |

I saw one break at the local track two weeks ago. Haven't had a problem yet myself. |

I had to replace 3 of them myself but as I said in other threads..... dont want to hurt anyones feelings or seem like I'm bashing the new buggy. |

ok i did another one last night on the front..nothing major just a small grip roll and it split the plastic in 2. checked the droop settings and i have to compress the shock about 2mm to get it onto the shock tower bolt so its not that...however: if you take the shock off and let the wishbone hang at its droop..you can grab the end of the wishbone and actually push it further down..way past the point where the shocks then become the droop limiter and not the grubscrw in the wishbone. now im guessing its the plastic hingepin holders thats flexing and letting it do that since none of the other xb8's did this..so in a roll etc the wheel gets forced down and stretches/pulls down the wishbone until the ball end is taking all the strain and and it breaks/splits. any thoughts and can anyone else check their cars to see if thats whats happening? cheers dave |
