Post subject: | xray nose dives on jumps |
I have an electric XT8, and when I do jumps I find the nose will drop when in the air. I can control this, I just use the throttle to keep it level. My thought is that maybe I have too much weight in the front. I have the battery (5S Lipo) more in the middle on one side, well a little more in the back end. I'm thinking of moving the battery back some, but I wanted to see how it handles for others, using Gas or electric. If I use smaller lipos, like 3S I have to keep WOT in order to keep it level, but with 5S, I don't need as much throttle. Thanks!! |

First check your ride height. Lower in front will tend to dive more. Try to level it out or have the front a little higher than the rear. |

Jason is right, there is a lot of drag brake with those huge brushless motors that will make the nose dive off of a jump, just bump up the throttle trim until it barely starts to roll, or depending on your speed controller, there may be an adjustment. |

Couldnt you mess with the rear shock wt oil? I forget the rule of thumb but I think it was if your rear end kicks up then you increase the rear wt oil by 5-10wt and it should help. |

I will try the throttle trim I did look at the truck and the front may be a little lower, do you think it is worth it? If I do a long jump, and have the throttle on, the nose will still drop. Here is my setup sheet: Let me know if you have any setup suggestions. Thanks again for the ideas. |

Here is a pic, I actually do have the battery more in the back vs the front, but this image may not look like it is. |

i have only jumped mine a few times and it seemed ok, let us know if you change anything on your set-up and if it helps i have my battery in about the same spot i am also in the process of adding mech. brakes to see how it does on hte track not pretty like a nitro version but still fun(this actually broke a servo so i am re-doing the servo mount , and if it doesnt work then i have one more idea before going back to motor brakes) |
