Interesting that the diffs are now 5/7/2. I figure being that this was tested on US soil it should be a good starting point but more then likely it accommodates a change in gear ratios when compared to the EC. I tired 7k in the CD on the EC and it was hard to drive but it sure got down on throttle when you wanted it to. Looking forward to see what you guys end up with on the diff oils. Also a great improvement are the hinge pins that hold the arms to the suspension holders and the uprights to the arms. They are threaded and take a lock nut on the other side to stay put. Some how this past weekend I managed to make the upright pin pop out but not break any plastic. It was very odd to me how the thing could have come out and with out the plastic cracking but it went right back in and held fine. Seems like so many great improvements to a near perfect platform. I cant wait to wear out my EC and finish paying for my other hobbies so I can buy the 808. One other thing I have learned is to not run out and buy upgrades or spare parts. I spent so much money on stuff that I now realize wont ever wear out and on things like the alum hubs, alum braces, 1 piece engine mount. I plan to leave the car stock and figure it should be good to go and when something breaks go home and buy 2 of it. What do you guys make of the engine mount? Leave it stock or is there another 1 piece in the works? I ask because I assume the current 1 piece no longer fits, right? Also whats up with the shocks and no way of fitting a rubber boot to them? That has be a bit worried about how to keep sand and dust from ruining the O-rings and causing leaks again. My Jammins are perfectly designed and I though Xray would do it right this time but there must be a reason for there not being any rubber boot. Maybe the felt pads have to be changed out often but the only other thing I can do is a shock sock to help out a tinny bit. If not then my Jammins will have to go back on it which is fine but I really want an all Xray car. Looks as if there is so many tunning options even down to shock rebound so I look forward to all those details from Rocco, Jason, etc. PS XRAY typo in the shock rebuild directions. Says to tighten the cap fully in step 5 which is wrong indicated by the picture to tighten to only 50% |
