they say to stay w/ the stock one that is what id use. you will change the emissivity and get a wrong reading on the temps. unless you change it on your temp gun. i found this out the hard way. its just best to stay w/ what the motor was made with. IMHO. |

yes the polished ones do give false readings but good ones like o'donnell or nocer give accurate readings |

Emissivity doesnt matter. You shouldnt be tuning to temperature anyway. You should only use temperature as a guide. Tune your engine for performance and take the temperature, it doesnt matter if it reads 5-10 degrees lower or higher, just remember what it reads for that motor. I have a CMB EVO2 that runs great between 180-200F on my gun. Another engine may run great at 280F, as long as you use the same gun and have a reference for what your engine runs well at, thats all you need. bottom line: tune motor for performance, use temperature only as a reference and only use your tempgun. |
