Hi Everyone,

I have read the following;
- MNH = 1 X the capacity
- NCD = 2 X the capacity
- Lipo = 1 or 2 the capacity depends on the battery recommendations
- What about 12 volt 7.2 amp gell cell?

Is the above assumption correct?

I run a team helotes 2600 mah NMH RX battery, Venom 8 X AA 2400 mah NMH batteries for the TX, a racers edge 4400 mah glow heater and a gell cell.

Any help would be appreciated for the above batteries.

Thank you

safe charging would be a 1C rating,in the case of the 2600 batteries that would be 2.6 amps,the 2400mah would be 2.4 amps a 1000mah would be 1 amp..however:

i wouldnt charge AA pencell batteries at that,1 amp is plenty enough for those, even my reciever packs of 1600mah i charge at 1 amp,the lifespan will be greatly increased if you charge lower and the cell will remain cooler too.

lipo again is usually 1C

the lead acid is not 1C however, you should trickle charge at a low amp rate,200mah or so,you can buy a dedicated 12v gel charger, they are a plug in wall socket type and cheap.

GP Cells 1100mah, Intellect 1400mah and Elite 1500mah Packs

For best performance, charge these cells at 1.5 amps or less. These cells can be charged at 2amp, but they must be watched to make sure they do not get too hot.

Transmitter, Receiver Packs and Runtime 2600mah Packs

2600mah packs will work the best when charged at 1/2 amp. With these packs you are looking for runtime not punch. A 2600mah pack will take about 5 hours to charge if it is completely dead. If you charge a transmitter pack this way it should last you at least 2 days of racing with no trouble at all. A 2600mah receiver packs should last you ALL DAY when charged this way.

1400mah and 1500mah Receiver Packs

These packs work best when charged at 1/2 amp or less. With these packs you are looking for runtime not punch. A 1500mah packs will take about 3 hours to charged when completely dead.

Some charge should be left in NI-MH cells if you don't plan on using them for more than a week. Some performance will decrease after long periods of inactivity. The packs should be cycled a couple of times after a longer period of storage. Cycling packs are done by charging and then discharging. Packs should be discharged at 2 amps.

Lithium Polymer batteries are volatile and can be very dangerous if mis-handled, stored, charged or discharged improperly. Failure to read and follow these instructions may result in fire, personal injury, and damage to property

Store below 80F and above 40F whenever possible (not in direct sunlight). Never store or charge a battery pack inside your car in extreme temperatures (100 F and above), since extreme temperature could cause fire. Use caution to avoid puncture of the cells. Puncture of cells may cause fire.

Charge before using. Use only chargers made specifically for lithium polymer batteries. Before the first charge, check for damage to the connectors, wire leads or any other abnormality. Please check the voltage of your pack. Packs are shipped from the factory at the following voltages: Never charge Lithium Polymer batteries unattended.

2 cell packs – 7.6 volts +/- .5 volt

3 cell packs – 11.4 volts +/- .5 volt

4 cell packs – 15.2 volts +/- .5 volt

5 cell packs – 19.0 volts +/- .5 volt

You must select the charge rate current that does not exceed 1C (one time the capacity of the battery, unless otherwise noted). A higher setting may cause fire. This chart is calculated at 1x capacity of pack. Generally speaking, charging at even lower rates will extend battery life.

800 mAh: Charge at or below 800mA

1500 mAh: Charge at or below 1.5 Amps

6000 mAh: Charge at or below 6.0 Amps

If at any time you witness a battery starting to balloon or swell up, discontinue the charging process immediately. Disconnect the battery and observe it in a safe place for approximately 15 minutes. Continuing to charge a battery that has begun to swell may result in fire.
