Hey guys, I haven't seen this posted, so hopefully I'm not duplicating stuff. This is a tip one of the local guys has done to his XB8.

You take the screw that holds the top of the shock on and put it through the front of the shock, then the shock pivot ball behind it, then the screw goes through the shock tower and the nut goes on the back of the tower. Its far easier to make changes to the shock on the tower, especially in the rear where you couldn't get an allen wrench in to the screw with the engine in. Alot of us have done this with no issues so far.

Heres a few pics of my XT8 done this way:

There must be a reason why it isn't done so by the factory? If not... then its a good tip!

I also mount the shocks this way.
I wouldn't recommend ball tips but take a little L-bent allen key. Most of the times the torque just from the nut driver is enough to tighten it though.

Yea, Ball tip is a waste of time, will strip the screws pretty easily.

I actually use an imperial driver on my screws as its slightly bigger than a 2mm driver. Its the Hudy allen wrench with the 4 lines on it, I think part 127840 5/64". It ended up going around the pits at a few big meetings and now most guys have bought this wrench also. I haven't used a 2mm allen wrench on my cars for over a year and haven't had any issues with 2mm screws stripping out.

Anyone have a link to the gloves they have? I saw ages ago some good looking ones, but can't remember where, and all the on-line shops I've had a look at don't have any. I may just walk up the road to a hardware shop and see what they have.

HPI make some decent ones - saw them in the latest Racing Lines.

I use motocross gloves. they are thin enough that you can easily bend your fingers but offer all the pretection your little fingers need. But you may be able to get some other gloves for way less, I dont know, the main reason I use moto gloves is because we have a lot of them over at my house.
