I just put Kyosho BB on my ec and xt8 no modding needed, just use the kyosho mount bushings for the towers and use the stock shock shaft ball ends.

I haven't tried them yet because of the weather but they look awesome.

You can see in this picture a way to fit your big bores without the angle problem.
