I see this at the track a lot is bad to hit the throttle upon starting the car. PPL at the track say it is to clear it.. I have heard as well that it is bad but then again I hear that it is needed by ppl that have been in the hobby for a while. Please everyone and team drive whats your practice when starting your cars??

I personaly don't do that esp. from a cold start. IMO the engine will eventually clear itself of oils when I hit full throttle during the practice runs.

My radio (3PK) has an idle up option that raises the idle enough to clear out the engine and warm it up but the keep the rpm low enough from stressing it's parts. It's also good to heat up the engine before a cold start. I do it regardless of how many gallons it's gone through.

Same as Richmond here:

I heat gun my engine every start no matter what so I am curious to see how long my B7 Pro will last. When I do this it starts almost instantly upon touching the starter wheel and will sit at idle perfectly with no need to pin the throttle. People who dont heat the heads have to do this to get the temps up fast so the metal can expand and lessen the pinch so it will stay running. Heat your engine before each start and you will be suprised at the the difference. Consequently you will also prolong the life of your engine big time.

I have been talking to Hulkray via PM and my explanation to this is that with no load on the motor and pinning the throttle with the wheels off the ground causes the bearings to slide instead of roll. When this happens they get flat spots on them and quicky fail after that.

I see guys do this often at the track and just oin the throttle hard over and over to where you can see the tires balloon.

I ramp my throttle up and down if its off the ground but not high RPM's. There is no need to do that and it will do more harm then good.

The issue is that a properly set LSN should allow the engine to idle about 20-30 secs at a stand still then stall from flooding out. If it idles along time then you have it too lean or if it dies fast its too rich.

When you are about to race and waiting for the one retard who cant get it together for the "down and quiet" it becomes necessary to give it some throttle to clear the case. But I ramp it up and down slowly just keep the RPM's down while doing so.

What Richmond said!!.

a cold start free rev REALLY stresses the parts. especially with a new motor.

Love the 3PK idle up feature. The motor will pop on and just idle up to get some temp in the motor.

You see the new Futaba radio Rich? Looks very Nomadio-esque.

Dude, I think I have the gift of foresight. I remember just last month when I bought the 3PK, I was looking at it and wondering how they would improve or even redesign it. I thought, "Maybe if they tilted the screen and buttons so the user can look down on it. Align the wheel position and trigger, it would be the greatest radio ever.!" Now it's here! LoL

Keith, the 3PK is just awesome in my book. "Idle Up Position", how awesome is that!

P.S. the 4PK was designed by Futaba alongside Nomadio, who also licensed their 2.4GHz system to Futaba but renamed it FAAST.
