The collet is supplied by your engine. As far as I know, only the original XB8 supplied it but stopped thereafter. |

alright, at least I know it was supposed to be that way! I managed to get my 8ight collet to work, but I had to have 2 shims underneath the collet to get my CB end play correct...it seems like it is sticking quite a ways out from the engine case, but perhaps I am used to the 8ight flywheel? (it kind of wraps around the front of the case). I will try it out tomorrow. Thanks! |

Hello, The collet does come with the XT8 as it did with my EC. It is made of Hudy Spring. Good Luck Rob |

No the collet doesnt come with and its not steel I think its brass. You may be thinking of the clutch nut. Its ok to shim behind the collet, I did the same. I used the thicker shim behind the collet, 1 thin shim over the clutch nut, and 2 shims over the front CB bearing. You will have to do this several times to find the best combo but you should be left over with some movemeny of about 1mm in the CB and the gear mesh being good. I have 1mm play and the CD gear aligned to the middle of the CB. |
