sup guys!
me and my friend both had the same thing happen to us. on our rear shocks we broke the bottom washer. it's the one underneath the shock piston. i fixed it and it happened to me again. i alway make sure that i bleed the shock. i'm using the 1.5 as per J.B. setup with 700wt and the second time i went up to 800wt. i always made sure the droop was limiting travel. what am i missing???

The only shims I have seen break is when people use that nut to hold the shock shaft when they are screwing the shock end on, or if it is over tightened...

It is a lock nut on the shock shaft, only make them tight enough to take the play out of the piston, it should still rotate freely!!!

I haven't broken the washers either.

When I build the shocks I hold the shaft when doing up the lock nut & the bottom shock end so maybe Rocco's right

i just rebuilt my xt8 shocks, and no broken washers. i was very careful not to overtighten the nuts when i built them, and i also made sure the set screws limited the droop and not the shock.

Thanks guys for the info. it looks like I may have the bottom eyes screwed on to for . I am going to re-build them tomorrow and try them out this weekend.

I built all 8 shocks from my EC and XT8 the same way, and only the rear shocks on the XT8 developed broken lower washers. Plus, the center hole on the piston was elongated, destroying the shock piston. To me, that indicates that the droop needs to be reduced. I did that, and the shocks have been fine for 3 race weekends.
