Post subject: | Replacement parts, need info. |
Hi there people, I have just bought an XB8,what I think is a TQ, but it's hard to tell, seems a bit of a mongrel. Anyway, I have posted it under "Hi, I'm new." In this XB8 forum. I am here because I need some info. I have just stripped the car down today for the first time and I am quite upset with what I have found, I really don't want to return the car now as I have grown attached to it but I am saddened by the way it has been neglected. I would like some info about where I can get some of the following parts, what hte best place is to find them and where I might be able to get them as cheap as possible. Also if anyone has any of these parts spare that they are able to give/sell me I would be eternally grateful. So, to start: First I removed the engine, found a screw missing so it's running on 3. Took it off and tried screwing one of the screws into the empty hole, screw fell straight in, hole is huge. So, need new engine mounts and screws. Also, the engine mounts have a Philips screw holding one of the mounts on. Needs replacing. Also, the screw on the end of the clutch is a phillips and has been destroyed, needs replacing. Second the wing, held on by 2 different sizes screws, one rather large one and one normal, and a washer the diameter of a 2p on the larger screw, looks a mess and works a mess. Need new washers/screws for the wing. (Going to replace the entire wing because it's bend/breaking anyway) Removed the fuel tank, wrong screws holding the posts to the chassis, need those (the current ones protrude some 2-3mm from the bottom of the chassis, sounds like it's asking for trouble to me), also the grommets on the tank are 1 split, 1 missing entirely. Need those. Removed the electronics, Carbon Fibre radio plate cracked in half, held together at present by the steering servo and the transponder mount. By this point i'm extremely upset. Front brace is a standard XB8R brace, nothing wrong with it but it shouldn't be there, need a CNC TQ brace. (will swap if anyone wants it, and make up the difference) Screw heads in the steering plate destroyed so i can not undo them, complete circular hole with nothing for a hex driver to drip. Need a way to get these out then need a set of replacement screws. Rear arms have play on the kingpin, should these not have some sort of spacer? They appear to in the manual, although not on my car. Also, the arms are not the reinforced (fat) arms but the standard thin ones, need new ones? Servos are held in with only 1 screw on each side so i need an extra 2 screws for each servo. Steering ball studs are not the ones with the back stops, need replacing. RX Pack connector wire is about to snap right at the nearest part to the RX pack. And I have no oils whatsoever for when i need to rebuild the shocks and diffs. (Shocks make a hissing sound when compressed so they must have air in) I know i probably sound stupid but I am a perfectionist and I have had this less than a week, it was described andsold to me as an XB8 TQ in excellent condition so naturally i'm quite upset, but even more so when i find so much neglect. A list of the mentioned parts i need is below: 352086: Alu Front Brace 7075 T6 5mm 352651: Ball Stud 5.8mm with Backstop (x2) - Need 4 Pieces total. 352380: Caster Clips 358685: Fuel Tank Mounting Grommet (x4) 358710: Alu Engine Mount CNC Machined (Need 2?) 353515: Rear Wing - Black 389122: XRAY Battery 5-Cell -1100mAh NiMH- 6.0V 356110: Graphite Radio Plate 903306: Hex Screw SFH M3x6 903312: Hex Screw SFH M3x12 960030: Nut M3 903410: Hex Screw SFH M4x10 903310: Hex Screw SFH M3x10 908312: Hex Screw Socket Head Cap M3x12 902308: Hex Screw SFH M3x8 902310: Hex Screw SH M3x10 I live in the UK so if anyone is able to suggest where i might be able to get all these things at the cheapest price available or are able to personally give/sell some of these parts to me I would be extremely grateful. Any information much appreciated, Thank you |

Post subject: | Hey |
Some more parts required, only something tiny this time: The shims with this, are they available seperately? LINK HERE The guy who built my ar has put them on the right hand side as usual but then on the left just put a 4mm piece of tubing on the one side of the hub carrier so the carrier is pushed all the way forward against the front side of the arm, it's not aligned right and i'm not happy with it. Anywhere i can get these? Or can i just use a piece of fuel tubing on each side? Does it have to be hard? Thanks |
