I am having trouble at my local track. The track has alot of 180 degree turns and jumps immediately after the turn. If I swing wide, I can clear the jumps (doubles) but I would like to stay tight on the turn and be able to clear the jumps. I am running the 48t spur and the 38t overdrive and that seems to help alot. I am thinking that I need to either replace the clutch shoes with something different, or the whole clutch system. I am even to the point where I may even go out and purchase "More" motor with more low end and torque. But I would hate to do that since my motor has only a couple of gallons on it. Any input would be greatly appreciated..

fisrt thing is traction .. are you getting enough ? then the xray clutch to suit your motor high reving engines require late engagement so thicker clutch spring ....high torque engines a thin to medium spring ......a engine with torque is better suited to jumps , but remember if you aint got traction your not getting the power down

What motor are you running? What clutch bell? What clutch? Can everybody else make the jumps?

I am running the standard 13t clutch bell with the black clutch springs and carbon shoes. I am also running a Rb S3 motor. I have good traction but yes, it seems that most of the higher powered motors seem to make the jumps look easy but I continue to struggle with them.

aluminium clutch shoes and thicker clutch springs is all you need

Yeah you need to get rid of the carbon shoes and go to the stock Xray 1.71g aluminum shoes and 1.0 springs. You should see more snap with the aluminums.

They are the only way to go!!! You get so much rip on demand out of those things!

I think I get about 2 gallons out of them before i change them.

the clutch thing can be a matter of choice also. the carbon shoes will alow some spool up before grabbing which can help on loose tracks. i either run carbon with 1.0 or 1.1's or alum. with 1.1's depending on the track and conditions. but the alum bite hard and fast.
