seen a few people using a 1mm shim under the ball on the ackerman plate,instead of fitting it under the actul plate. want i want to know is do you put one on the stud ball on your knuckles too

I did the same thing right away. The buggy was all over the place with the US setup. Once I added some shims under the studs, it calmed it right down.

As Jason stated (and I witnessed) if you put the shims under the steering plate, you get incredible steering and these shims under the steering knuckles will smooth the steering out.

Is the steering affected onpower, offpower or what? And can someone explain the bumpsteer effect in detail? This is one area of setup I have figured out yet.

That's a good explanation Rocco. But when I bottom out my suspension my front wheels appear to toe in instead of out. And then when I extend the suspension the wheels toe out way too much for my liking. I have been limiting the droop to prevent this but I would rather take advantage of as much droop as possible. The car seems very skittish sometimes on power (when the front extends) and very stable when the front is compressed like when I get on the brakes hard. Would my bumpsteer effect be why and where should I add the spacers?

It actually seems to me like you guys are adding spacers to prevent the front from toeing out when the suspension is compressed when I need to prevent the front from toeing out when the suspension is extended. Or maybe I am worried about the wrong thing and it is a good thing to get more toe out when the suspension is fully extended at full droop??? I just don't know. Help me figure this out.
