The new 38t diff gear is specially designed so as not to require a new pinion gear. Something to do with the pitch of the teeth I think. The stock spur gear is a 46t which is sooooo close to protruding through the chassis, I should think that with a larger spur you would have to shim up the centre diff mounts a bit. Going to a smaller gear of course wouldn't pose any problem. The only gearing changes I've made to my buggy is going to a 12t clutch bell on some small tracks to get a bit more low end. |

i purchased the 48 tooth spur gear and x-ray sells some shims that are required to run that gear, i ran it with a 14 tooth clutch bell and really liked it, its geared for a little more top end compared to the 13/46 setup. Its the stock gearing the losi uses, i think its great because it takes away a little wheelspin and winds out a little further down the straight. i haven't tried it on tight tracks yet though |
