Post subject: | Rear Alunimum Hubs bending hinge pins |
I am starting this thread to see if others are having the problem I am. I have two XB8TQ's. One with alunimum rears and the other without. I have bent two rear outer hinge pins on the alumnimum car. My theory on the problem is that the hinge pin is bending due to the lack of material between the two adjustable ecentric bushings. The hinge pin is exposed. Please let me know if you have had this same experience. Thanks Rob Knasel |

I think it`s just the plastic ones will flex and absorb some of the impact and the alu will not. I think the hinge pin will be more prone to bending with the alum carrier even if there was material between the bushings , just my opinion. |

You have to watch what you repace, on really any RC vehicle. Sometimes plastic is in place, to help take the abuse and absorb the flex when it gets hit. Replacing plastic, sometimes has the tendency to put stress on components that might be designed to take the load or shock. If its engineered as a race machine, I usually try to keep them as stock as I can. With the XB8TQ, only thing I did was get a one piece engine mount, and remove the front and rear braces for the plastic ones supplied in the kit. |
