Post subject: | Shock Pistons! |
Hi Guy's, Have had My Xray XB8TQ now for about 2 months and in the whole have to say it's very good, easy to drive and setup! The problem then? the shock pistons seem to be very inconsistent in the manufacturing process, some of them fit prefect and others just wont go in the shock bodies. Now with the TQ ( in the UK ) we were given 2 new rear shock body's just because of this problem but in my mind it's not the bodies that are the problem its the pistons them self. I'm using the composite type pistons and can't seem to find a prefect set! I'm having to run them over a piece of emery cloth to make them fit the body's properly. Have any of you had the same problem with your build and running! |

If you tighten the nut on the top of the shaft down too much it will cause the composite piston to swell, causing the problem you described. I've never run into a problem with the shock pistons. |

I've driven the XB8 line of vehicles for the past 2 years. I've always used AE shock oils, so I don't think there is any problem there. Do you guys have the newer black pistons or the older whites? I can remember having to trim a little flashing off the white pistons in my first kit, but every set of pistons I've had since then have been perfect. Maybe you guys got a bad run? |
