Post subject: | P5X idle problem |
I have a P5X and a JP-2 in my XB8 TQ and have about 3 gallons through it. It ran flawlessly for the first 2 1/2 gallons and never got above 250 F. Then I had the front bearing went bad. We replaced that and now the engine wants to constantly run at a high idle after it has been run until I blip the throttle then it will return to a normal idle. Then it will slowly want to idle up again. I've replaced the tank, tubing, and filter. I've pressure checked it and it is fine. We've set the needles at about ever conceivable way that there is and it always does the same thing. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated as I'm about to junk this engine and get something else. |

Perhaps it could be in the throttle servo connection or springs? Tighten it a lil more or redo you neutral position to fully close it. |

Seems like a carburetor setting to me!!! but... 1) Check air leaks To check if there is an airleak, take off the airfilter and start your engine. Rev it up a little and then put your finger on the carburetor inlet and it should die immediately. 2) Check carburator If the engines rpm stays high after some high speed runs and then comes back to normal again then the LSN is set too rich. When you lean more the LSN then you will notice that the idle will stay high all the time. To lower the idle you need to cut the air more when the carburetor is in the closed position, this can be obtained by unscrewing more the airscrew. In your case, try first reach the LSN. |
