That is strange...

What's your local track like? High bite/Low bite? Tight/Open?

What kind of motor/clutch setup are you running?

If you're running on a higher bite track with lighter oil in the center with a strong motor/hard hitting clutch setup I could see the diff oil getting cooked if there wasn't enough in there, but other than that, this seems very odd.

Sorry if this seems remedial, but did you make sure to get all the shims in there?

Setup specifics:

Motor: Max Power M5B
Clutch. Xray 1.71, Xray 1.0 springs
Pipe OS2050 with RB long header

This is the new track in Amarillo, tx.

If the track has not been watered, it is very much like the old track you have raced at. If it has been watered it is very sticky.

So on this race night, first heat was dry dusty, next heat was tacky. Then in the main was medium traction.

I would guess I was 1 to 2 tanks away from shelling the 2 large gears, especially the one closest to the spur side of the diff, the other side has some wear but no were as bad.

On the shims, I had all 6 shims in the proper location with no small orings in the 4 small gears.

I had greater than year on the diffs in my last car and I never saw this happen, but I never ran as thin of oil. The oil was a very thick and completely black, but there was still oil in the diff though.

I notice running the thinner oils, you need to top them up more often. saw it today. my buggy is fairly new and I just recently went to 3,3,5 but today at practice I decided to try the 3,3,3 setup and noticed I had lost a fair amount. wasn't just me, I saw other xrays changing dif oils.

it's so easy to remove the difs on these things though. kudos. even my pitman made notice of the ease I had changing oils. so I don't mind. ripping mine down right now to redo the center and front for tomorrow's qualifying.

I need to update my setup sheet too before I forget the changes I made hehe. going to try 5k in the center. track is going to get rough. I know the RD and I went quite soft on the suspension. heard him today say he doesn't want any track maintenance other than watering, so I think the shocks will stay. really happy with the way it's performing.... I couldn't make a mistake in the rhythm section and I tried doubles, triples, and even quads... this buggy drives so well and is so easy to correct... even the big triple, I was leary to make it with my last (more expensive) buggy but I nailed it almost everytime in practice today.... now I don't doubt the JP-1 pipe...

can't tell I am pumped for this race can you? LOL
I know I will finish well. I drive fairly slow and smooth so I have no doubts the buggy will hold up this weekend. I have new clutch bearings for qualifying and a new set for the mains if need be. bloody pinhole in a fuel line had me baffled for a bit...
