Post subject: | XB8 or XB8TQ? |
Hi guys. This is my first post on the forum. I am getting my first 1/8 scale soon and haved decided on the XB8. I am leaning towards the XB8TQ, but I was just offered a standard XB8 kit NIB (not the XB8R) at a local hobby shop for $450.00. The kit comes with Hudy drivers and a receiver pack. My jaw dropped when he offered me the kit at that price, because they had the kit marked at $750.00. I am not sure what to do, because I was almost 100% set on getting the TQ, and it looks to me like the TQ has ALOT of updates over the standard XB8. Looking for a little advice on this. Do the updates between the XB8 and XB8TQ make a big difference in handling and/or durability? It seems to me like they probably do. Would I be better off buying the standard kit at $450.00 and getting a few of the TQ updates separately, or should I just bite the bullet and get the TQ? I am just getting into 1/8 scale (I have no nitro gear whatsoever, and have only run electric up to this point), so I have to get my engine, pipe, and ALL my nitro accessories to get me up and running. So getting the standard kit at $450.00 could help soften the financial blow of the initial investment. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for your help. |

Yes, I suggest getting the TQ. I had the XB8 but slwoly upgraded to the TQ and it would've saved me more in the end if they just came out with the TQ first . . . alas, it never goes that way. ![]() |

I would go for the TQ it may be more expensive but it is worth it. The updates do make a lot of diffrence besides if you get a old xb8 are u going to be happy with it or will you sell it and up buying a TQ I think you should bit the bullet and buy the best 1/8 buggy in the world the XRAY XB8TQ |

Look around on the net for a price on the TQ. Also the wrenches would be nice but you can probably consider the battery toast. It's so old. The TQ does have some nicer features too. Jon |

I would have to say that is an awesome price for the XB8. XRAY made a lot of running changes with the orginal kit and during the process they eventually stopped offering them with the tools and battery. If it still has the tools and battery, I would be worried that it might be one of the older versions. You have a hard choice to make but if you can afford it, I highly recommend getting the TQ and just be done with it. |
