Post subject: | Clutch shoe backing out |
My car was making noise. Thought it might be the clutch bearings, but one of the aluminum shoes had backed off the pin and was rubbing on the back of the housing. I pushed it back on, but I'm not sure what is supposed to retain it. Ideas? |

on the adapter that locks the flywheel their is a little canal where the springends should lock in and stay in by the pressure so you will not have locked it firmly in initinialy, I think |

If it felt like easy to build, then it's usually wrong. Springs were in full condition, did you check? Or could it be possible that a spring could have jumped out from the groove(?) should be atleast rare if actually impossible. |

Thanks for your replies. I am inclined to think that the one spring was not seated in the groove. There is nothing easy about putting those shoes in, by any stretch of the imagination! I have bought a tool now. |

Also check to be sure that your clutch nut didn't start backing out. That can cause the same thing that you described. |

Had a bent flywheel pin cause a shoe to creep out against the cutch bell once. the springs were pretty much shot and it allowed it to rattle forward apparently. |
