The XB8 comes with the blue rubber sealed bearings for the clutch, and the XB8TQ contains bearings with metal seals for this part only. I plan to install ceramic bearings in my TQ and I wonder why XRAY made the switch for this particulat part. If I do go with the ceramic bearings, should I get metal shielded ones or rubber? (I prefer the rubber seals because they seem to keep dirt out better, though I do realize you lose some performance.) Is the loss that great where I will notice sluggishness if I use rubber sealed bearings? I always fugured you really couldn't tell. Perhaps I should search for ceramic bearings with Teflon or Poly-amide seals? Thanks for any info on this. |

The older Xray blue rubber sealed bearings failed easily. The new metal shield bearings included with the TQ are a MUCH better bearing. I have 3 races on mine so far and they still feel new. Ceramic bearings are incredible and are definitely the way to go. I tear my clutch down often and replace the bearings, so I never saw the need for the ceramics when I could get 2 sets of bearings for the price of one ceramic. Just my 2 cents ![]() -Adam |
