Post subject: | Alu rear hub carrier and outer hinge pin problem! |
Hi! I just got these option alu rear hubs and of course I put them on and headed to track for testing. After half hour testing I have two broken rear outer hinge pins and no big crashes, I was amazed, what could be wrong?. So, after last hinge pin in my spare part stock I desided to put plastic hub back and try to figure out is Alu Hub reason for break downs. After that there was no more any broken pins! Is there anyone who has faced same kind of problem? What could I do to get rid of this issue? I have soft lower arms... Thanks... |

these pins often bent, they should have been 4mm with the alu uprights and soft arms they also have max stress points perhaps with hard or tq arms it could be better... |

I was having that problem. I think they changed the hardness of the hinge pins , because all of the most recent hinge pins to come in have not been bending/breaking. |

I and another driver had the problem that the pins pulled/ripped out with the soft arms. Cured it now though.....i used the outer pin / bolt from X5 Prospec. Job done. |

I've never run into the rear outer hinge pin breaking/bending and I've been running the same car for a year now. Does anyone know the part number for the outer hingepin wheelbase shims (the two circular shims)? -Adam |
