what's the usual operating temp for the FX stock series of the JP engine line? What are the needle settings set for optimal yet safe performance? Thanks in advance

I would agree with Fabrice on much of what he says - personally though I would never run hotter than 100 deg Celsius - I'm happy running between 92 and 100 - lean enough for me

The JP Stock is pretty much a P5 and after having alot of experience tuning and watching those engines run, I have found them to run at their peak between 245-255 degrees F. The JP Stock is smoother than a stock P5 as well so you will be able to use the power a bit more. Properly tuned P5's can easily manage 8-10 minutes of run time - this winter I was lucky enough to pull 11.5-12 minutes out of one tank on my P5 paired with an O.S. T-2050 pipe and on a more conservative indoor track. |

JohnB Wow nice run times!! The 245 - 255 bit - in your mind does that also apply to the FX B8T - not sure what 'stock' means. How's the engine life at that kind of temp or perhaps more to the point would you expect much difference in life / wear to the range I'm running in as above... Always good to hear from someone who really knows an engine! |

for jp engines run fuel with low oil % or it will be difficult to tune low oil % will make the engine gain quickly temperature so you can tune |

The difference between the JP Mod and JP Stock is simply that... Modified and Stock. The Modified JP B5 has alot of work done to the sleeve and crankshaft with porting and polishing to smooth out the powerband and increase run times. Efficient fuel delivery helps the engine run very well and greatly increases performance. Check out www.jpracing.com and you will see some pictures of JP Modified sleeves. The JP B5 Stock engine is pretty much a Novarossi P5. The P5 is the base engine that alot of these companies use to modify and definitely produce great results. Max Power also uses the P5 as their base engine but they have done a bit more work than the JP line of engines (I have both and have compared). I do not have any experiences with the B8T so I can't really say that those temps work with that engine as well. I do have a Novarossi 421B in my truggy and that is very similar - 8 port and Novarossi. So far its running around the 240-260 range as well but only has about 1.5 gallons through it and has not fully come in on its own yet so consistent temps and run time are still a little sketchy .
