Post subject: | Carb stuck |
hey fellas, the other day my throttle kept sticking wide open and it got to the point where my servo couldn't slide my carb open. i put a couple drops of after run oil in the carb to kind of lube it and i finally got it to open but it still feels difficult to slide the carb. i noticed my linkage was pullling the carb at an angle, would this cause it? and how would make my carb smooth again? it's on an older nova p5 with about 6 gallons on it edit: i took out my carb and sprayed wd40 inside but it's still sticky. might end up changing the carb. i have an os rg carb handy. has anyone tried putting that on a p5? edit #2: after letting the wd40 sit in the p5 carb, it felt alooot smoother <--- happy... YAY |

most of the time this happens when the Idle screw is turned in to far. Back it off a little and the problem will most likely go away |

franchise, Take the carb apart and clean it thoroughly. this happened to my p5 on gallon 6. I used a SOS pad on the carb to smooth it out just a bit. I put it back lubed it up and it was fine. Novarossi carbs *** :-) *** unless you clean them frequently. I do now that know with all my engines after about 1/2 gallon of run time. ensures debris doesnt stay and cook on the internals. |

thanks for the tips guys, i put an rg carb on it but it felt like it wasn't as snug as the stock p5 carb - backed off the idle screw a tad but still icky - actually after an hour of letting wd40 sit in the carb, it feels a bit smoother - i haven't fully disassembled the carb. sounds like a good idea tho, i'll be sure to do this |
