I have read about the importance of the proper downstop setting but what exactly is it? is it track specific
I don't want to stress anything.

Download the That book will answer pretty much any setup question you might have. It's essential IMHO.

But generally speaking, a higher downstop value, (less arm droop) is better on smoother tracks with medium to high traction. You can also fine tune on-power and off-power steering with downstops. For example, having slightly less droop in the front can help with on-power steering as it limits rearward weight transfer which keeps a bit more weight over the front tires. Like all other adjustments, you have to try it and see if you like the result. So many adjustments so little time!
