I've owned both and in my experience anyone who says there's any significant difference hasn't actually owned both. The small differences however, are easily in favour of the XB8 - pivot ball threads extending deeper (= need a bigger crash to rip them out), 14T diff pinions (XB8) instead of 13T or 12T (depending on MBX7 or MBX8-WC) = longer gear life. On the MBX8 they've now made the diff pinion bearings smaller than the MBX7/XB8 (6x13mm vs 8x16mm) too, so they'll need replacing faster. There's some small things nicer on the Mugen (like shock boots), but you can just put them on the Xray. If anything the MBX7R is easier to break than the XB8 as the front arms are weaker, but this is rectified on the MBX8. Shame they made the bearings smaller. With all that said, both are great kits. If you're choosing between Mugen and Xray, you're going to have a good time either way. Roughly the same applies to the XT8'17 / XT8.2 (only very minor changes, and both very solid trucks) compared to the MBX8T. I'd take the XT8.2 due to the larger diff pinion bearings - particularly important in truggy, as the pinions are much smaller (10T on both the MBX8T and XT8.2, to reach the lower FDR required for truggy). Would happily run the MBX8T if the Xray wasn't available. |

My riding style is quite aggressive, they say that I better ride my fists. Again, the reason is to take mp777wc or xray808. Another reason, I want to try a new chassis and a new engine for example, Novarossi mp5x or OS 21vspec. best xray808 |
