You'll need spare parts for the car
I carry a lot more than what is listed below and I still have to hunt for parts sometimes at a big race. However, this is what I would consider as the minimum
1) Set of front and rear arms
2) Set of inner hinge pins
3) Replacement composite frame shock parts
4) Loctite ( I use the blue one that looks like a lipstick )
5) Spare exhaust springs
6) RC screws kit or some good kit with spare screws to fit the car, you will lose some as you race and learn to tune the car.
7) 2 ft of fuel tubing
 Spare 5x10mm metal shielded clutch bearings (www.avidrc.com)
9) You will need shock and diff oil, try to use the Xray stuff as it will help when copying the team driver setups (Learn from my mistake). 1,3,5,7 for diffs. 400, 450, 500, 600, 700 for shocks
10) Zip ties for the head on the motor and the air filiter neck. There should be pictures somewhere on this site of how to put the ties on the head to protect it. Motors cost a lot of money, take care of it.
11) A small package of 5mm shims to shim the clutch bell.
Lastly if you can afford to add these few items they will help the durability of the car a lot in my opinion
1) Optional Aluminum front chassis brace (at least get the composite one), the torque rod is a PITA if you ask me
2) Optional Aluminum one piece engine mount (set the gear mesh properly and never touch it)
3) Get the hardened metal backing plates for the brakes and glue the pads in the kit to the new plates, don't bother with the ones in the kit. If that setup isn't good enough braking wise try a set of phenolic brake discs also at avidrc.com
I would also use a 358 servo for both steering and throttle/brake that way you can switch it around once and a while. If the car is too twichy and you can't get comfortable with it try the soft arms.
