Most people don't replace a spur gear and clutch bell unless a tooth breaks. Nitro doesn't have to be that expensive but it can be if you don't have everything set up right. I used to go through clutch bearings almost every run and now I just replace the bearings, shoes, springs, and air filter every gallon. My engines last a minimum of 8 gallons. |

Proper maintenance goes a LOOONG way for vehicle dependability and longevity. If you have the clutch bell mis-aligned with the spur gear, unnecessary friction is brought about. This harms not only the clutch and it's assembly, but also the motor. Make sure you have the motor straight on the chassis and not cocked on a slight angle. I too get great longevity out of my motors, and just like any other hobby, it's only as expensive as you want to make it. -Adam |
