XRAY - Model racing cars

Hi all,

All built, body shell painted - just checking the set-ups before I fire it up and see how it goes.....

Questions though re the sway bars (front and rear). How far should you have the bar protruding past the ball end unit (ie the silver ball joint with the allen screw that grabs the bar). I've got mine flush as the manual didn't give any settings but I've seen pictures where it tsicks out a few mm....

Any advice gratefully received....

start flush...that will get you going close, hell thats where mine are and never really have to mess with them.

Slim hit it on the head. i run mine fluch with the end as well.

Also take note whne adjusting the set screw onto the diff case for the sway bar. You dont want to bind the bars torsional movement but you do want to keep it from walking forward and aft in the mounts. If the bar can be moved it will move around alot when driving and give a very inconsistant feel. I have worked with alot of guys locally on this and they have noticed a change when they are set correctly.

how tight should i put the little set screws that hold the sway bar in place

Without anything on the other either end of the sway bar fit the two composite brackets over the bar with the two flat headed screws and then equally tighten the two set screws (turn by turn) until you get to the point where the sway bar no longer falls downwards under its own weight. Then lossen each set screw equally and by a small amount until the sway bar falls under its own weight - that should do you OK.....
