Post subject: | XT9 problem - front springs + front CVD |
Hi folks I just finished my XT9 for the first outdoor walk and after one hour of driving, I noticed a problem at the front suspension (both sides). There is not enough space among front spring + CVD. Did I make anything wrong with the assembling or is this a typical problem at the XT9? I set the two lower arm shims in front of the suspension arm but it don't helps. Any idea? |

If you use the XB8/XB9 lower spring collars it can help somewhat. With those the spring doesn't come down as far. Part #358020 |

Thx Robin but 358020 is used on XB9 + XB8'14 + XT9 - the same part on all cars |

Ah I see. My XT8 came with the old shock parts and the new parts helped, now it doesn't touch at all. Are you sure they are the same? Some times the part number doesn't change but the part does. Other than that I don't know what to do, maybe you can mount the shocks a few mm further forward with some shims, or further inward on the arm. |

Yes I am sure. It's the same part: I thought a lot about moving the shock or the CVD but no chance to shim or something else. No possibility on the lower side of the shock (picture) and on the upper side you have to shim at least 5 mm to move the shock 1 mm at the bottom. Seems to be a fatal construction error in the XT9 ![]() |

I meant the shock collar not the rod end. The part that holds the spring. Is that the same too? |

There's nothing you can do about it. The arms were designed in 2006 for the 13mm shocks. It doesn't affect handling in any way |
