Hoping this thread will build into a proper Q&A for anyone running the XB8 and hoping that team drivers would chime in with their input if xray racers around the world cannot solve it.

I had 3 days worth of driving and testing my new xb8 2014, first couple of changes I did was to suit my driving style.

Went from 5/5/2 to 5/5/3 as the 2 had way too much rotation to my liking so 3 was ideal for my driving style kept the rear in line with my steering ability.

Then switched the the center to 7 so diffs are 5/7/3 and I felt I lacked the response on power and the front tire wear was way to high, so switched out the front to 7, so ending diff setup was 7/7/3.

Diff sorted, I need more pack since local track has decent sized jumps and I can hear clearly the chassis was slapping on the track a plenty.

Switched from 550 / 400 to 650/550 much better, but the car felt to twitchy, so went back down to 600/500 and that sorted out my shock oil combo, piston and springs perfect, maybe one notch higher would be better, but nothing major for now.

Once I got used to everything with my setup, I noticed that I lacked just a little on the on power, so switched out the caster to 28.5 as opposed to the 27 stock.

More on power means I can stay on the throttle longer through the corners as car was really hauling through the sweepers, couple of traction rolls later, I decided to stiffen the sway bar, but still not enough.

Then changed the rear camber link one hole and that sorted out the rear end edging on the mid to exit of corner traction roll.

The only thing I might test, if I have the time is to try the new high torque clutch system with medium springs, something tells me it would be just a little less then the snap on the old 34mm flywheel with the stock shoes and hard springs.

Race coming up next week, should be sorted out with the current setup.

Hi,

I just finishing building the car this past week and have run it for around 15 tanks. The car feel really good with its stock setup. Now I am trying to use the multiflex system and hope it can give me more traction on my local track whch is very very loose.

Came across 2 points of observations on the xb8 after the last race.

First image, when removing the front screw for the side guards to obtain full flex, the front portion of the side guard hits the steering servo post, I did notice this prior to racing, just wanted to see how much of an issue it would create, luckily for now no issue, but obviously with time as wear takes place, this will put a load on the steering post as well as the servo, if not load, but at least self centering. I can see the plastic wearing slowly, time will tell how much wear may cause an issue.




Second image shows the fuel tank, wear the tanks sits above the exhaust support post, on full flex, this obviously hits the outer corner of the fuel tank, and this is me racing with zero crashes, mainly track has some high jumps that could have caused this groove build up into the lower corner.

Now a simple fix for this can be just by grinding down the support stand on a down angle say 45 degrees and the problem is fixed.



Third issue I came across was the flywheel alignment on the hudy std starterbox, with the new chassis, the car flywheel opening is not in perfect alignment with the starter box as compared with the xb9, the starter box will start the flywheel, but on the front out edge, a little grinding on the posts on the back end to give it more backwards spacing and you get the flywheel to align at 3/4 of the way.

Personally, the starter box should have come with the possibility of having some adjustments as opposed to predefined set screw positions, especially the flywheel block, at least forwards or backwards.

nice finds there.. i did notice when building.. the side guards were hard to put on.. and had to flex the guards a little to get them to line up.

dgrobe122, simple to fix first the front screw, then pull back all the way down to the last screw, what I do is superglue the locknuts in place first so they dont fall out when working on the car.

Update on the front sideguard rubbing on the steering post tension nut, there is no load whatsoever.
