team Lobo is exaclty right. It allows more chassis flex to help out on bumpy tracks, and it spreads out the point of the flex in the center of the chassis, which will not cause a clutch bell problem and may even help. And now with the new Xray engine mount, you will never have to worry about breaking teeth again. I was the first one to try cutting the rear brace down so that only the 2 rear screws hold it down during practice at the Silverstate, and my car felt better and was dialed. So several other team drivers tried it and seemed to like it as well. If you do not have an extra brace, you can do what Dana did. Mill down the front of the brace so that you can just add a thick spacer to the front screw and still uses 3 screws when you want to. |

auto2, Correct, if you just use the 2 rear holes on the rear chassis brace and leave the front screw out, the brace doesn't have the clearence to allow the chassis flex the same as it would if the brace was shortend to 2 holes, etc. There just isn't enough clearence. MOST IMPORTANTLY: It is NOT a night and day modification! Not like tires are sometimes. It is an improvement but only on the gnarliest of tracks! If you blaze around hardpack smooth surfaces that aren't blown out.....and you wreck alot, 99% chance you won't feel the difference. If you only run on hella rough surfaces and are looking for that last little bit and can afford another rear chassis brace, by all means buy one and cut the front of the rear chassis brace off just forward of the middle screw hole. |
