Hey guys i am a little new to racing and was wondering when to clean my clutch on my engine and how to clean it. Could you please tell me your methods and also what you use? |

Cleaning the clutchbell can be done with 150-grit sand paper. You want to break the glaze that can form in the friction surface and get rid of the built up aluminum. A good sanding will do it. As for the clutch shoes, you want to file or shave the edges on the sides where the shoe's friction surface and the side of the shoe meet, the trailing edge of the friction surface and the slot in which the spring sits. You'll see where you'll need to file or shave as soon as you look at the shoes after a couple of hard runs. Do this often ( I do it before my quals and then again before the main) and your clutch will perform perfectly allowing you to focus on driving! Regards, Speed Metal |
