Post subject: | Xray Clutch Setup |
Anyone running the clutch setup that comes with the Xray? I am still running the Mugen and the Kyosho clutch setups that were already on my motors... wondering if i should give the XRAY clutch a try... Does XRAY plan on making 1.1 springs and if not will the Mugen or Kyosho 1.1s fit on the XRAY shoes? |

I just installed the mugen 1.1 springs on the xray clutch. I still need to try it out though. The springs are a snug fit and should work fine. They are at a slightly different angle though, so I had to raise the clutch nut a bit (1mm) with a washer so the springs would sit nicely in the notch. |

I gave up with the Xray clutch on the first day of running after it falied 3 times and now run ... ...an SPM racing clutch, I have the ceramic shoes on it and the only thing I had to do was shim it to meet the flywheel. I used the Hyper 7 style one as it sits nicer in the chassis hole. |

There are 3 different types of shoe, teflon ,ceramic and some white stuff the same as Mugen. The bit is incredible with the ceramic shoes, You also get 3 different springs to setup the preload on the return disc. Also you can adjust the nut to set it to. Shoes are cheaper than normal 3 shoe ones (to my surprise also) and the wear rate is equal if not better than any 3 shoe I have used. In the UK we get these clutches for £30 (about US$50) and replacement shoes are £6, so IMO a bargain. |

grahama89 Where are you getting these clutches for £30. I have rung two local model shops in the UK and both have quoted £ 50. Is the Hyper 7 clutch the same diameter as the X-ray flywheel ? Do you have any part numbers for the clutch kit you used and the ceramic shoes to fit it ? Thanks |

Post subject: | Ofna flywheel |
Can I use my Ofna Hyper 7 flywheel and clutch bell with XB8? I'm lazy and don't want to take it off my motor ,, if I don't need to.. its working great,,, but I may go back to 1.0 springs ,, using 1.1 now,,,and from what I understanding from other post, the 1.0 may work better on a loose track... |

Measure the diameter of the Ofna flywheel. It may be to big and stick out the bottom of the chassis. |
