Howdy,
I recently purchased an 808 2010 Spec off of eBay and am looking to go brushless with it. It seems as if i am faced with two options.

Option 1
Buy a brushless conversion kit from monster rc (or is it rc-monster?) and covert the buggy the way is is now or

Option 2
Convert my 2010 spec to the official XRay 808e

From looking at pictures i noticed to do the "official" conversion, i would need a new chassis since the holes on the 808 are different from those on the 808E. this is fine since i want to get a new chassis anyway. Does anyone know how simple/complex the "official" conversion to an 808E would be? thanks.

Using an aftermarket conversion or the XRAY pieces will not be more complicated one way or the other. The basic differnce between them is the location of the center diff/motor plate. The 808E uses a different position compared to the nitro 808, so the chassis and center shafts are unique to the 808E. Using aftermarket pieces, the diff will stay the same as the nitro, so you can reuse the center shafts if they are in good shape. There are a couple other pieces like the front top plate and center diff top plate that are unique to the 808E as well. The 808E chassis will not have any extra holes from the flywheel or other screw holes, but that is more of a cosmetic thing than performance. The front and rear suspension is the same either way.

You will find different opinions regarding the performance of the two. Some guys have prefered their conversions, some prefer the 808E layout. Our team tested both and preferred the E, but I am not going to say the customers who prefer their conversions are 'wrong'. Everyone has their own driving style, so that may have something to do with it. Do you have anyone near you with either version that you could test drive? That might be the best way to figure out which one will work better for you!
