Hello,

how does the active diff change driving behaviour? Is there one for rear center and front? What is the difference with normal diffs? I see there is a 90 and 120, what are the differences?

Kind regards.

What is your opinion of the Active diff system? I have heard the front one is very unpredictable?

The active diffs have a time & place where i tried to explain in the tip Barkley put up. Its only unpredictable when used in the wrong condition, for me this is a surface that undulates & swaps form positive to negative camber section. The diff is designed to lock as it off loads but when used on an undulating track can pull the car the wrong way making the experience & drive very unpredictable. When used in any other condition its a good tunning aid.

The centre diff tends to make the car launch itself out of a turn, it makes the rear loose through a turn & works very well when grip is low & car is pushing due to grip. I will use this allot with low grip tracks that has chicanes & switch backs

I tend to use the actives when its wet (happens a lot over here ) going from a crime/bow combo to hole shot . it makes the car a lot looser but aggressive giving direction change a more possitive feel in slick conditions .

I use the active diff in front as often as I can. I use standard diffs on high grip tracks. On high grip tracks, I've raced on, the AD really isn't needed

I allways use the 120 degree segments. I felt the 90's were too slow to disengage or were unpredictable. The 120's are active whenever your on the gas or brakes and open up quicker. I want the action in the front diff to be instant not delayed.

I run AD 120 1000wt/ 5000/ 3000 for dusty outdoors.

Next summer I'll try one in the center again with the 90, and a 120 AD up front. But only on dusty tracks.
