How do you guys change the drive pins in the CVDs? I tried pressing one out in a vise and I was having to put far more pressure on it than I was comfortable with. I never did get the pin to move before I quit. I'd hate to break a CVD and have to replace that. Any tips, heat, lube, anything? |

I do it ontop of the vice with a hammer. Pressing it doesn't really work for me too. It depends a lot on which surface you do it on. On concrete it will bounce, on wood it will depress the wood. Ontop of the vice it's rather easy and with practice I don't hit my thumbs anymore. Changing all six pins is a breeze now and I do it whenever the car is apart. |

There's a guy here in the UK who makes a pin removal tool that allows you to screw them in and out rather than bashing them with a hammer! Makes changing them child's play. I can provide a link but may not be that useful for those in USA? |

I don't think I could live without that Hudy pin removal tool. it saves on money too when you think about how many dog-bones you dont have to replace. shoot, the first time you replace the pins save you more than 6 bones would cost, and your outdrives seem to last longer, might just be me though. |
