Post subject:  hudy complete set up system question

hi to all, have recently purchased the the above item from hudy, its item 108856 on their website,im using it to set up my 808 2010 spec buggy,my question is in relation to setting the downstop values, using the supplied 30mm blocks and 0 to -13 gauge i went about checking the downstop heights, in the book supplied with the system it says to place the gauge under the round part of the the axle and not the hex part, problem im having is to do this the gauge only reads to -4 when the arms are fully down and resting on the chassis,if i screw down the downstops to raise the arms anymore than a couple of millimetres the gauge slides under the round part and no reading can be taken as the axle has risen above the max height of the gauge? am i doing something wrong, or is the book wrong? should readings be taken from the hex part ?

I had problems getting longer droop settings. I loosened the shock eyelet a turn or two to get -3/-5.

My car was actually a bit dull and easy to drive with that much droop. I'll try -2/-5 or -2/full rear doop next.

hi again guys, since posting my original post i had a look on the hudy website at the individual parts supplied for the complete set up system, the page on the light weight blocks says that measurements taken with the 0 to-13 droop gauge are taken from the hex on the axle and the picture seems to show the gauge sitting under the hex part not the round part as it says in the manual, must be a mix up somewhere!

Jason7 with so many options of ride height to achieve different effect use a method that works for you to measure it, either under the hub or hex does not really matter as long as you do the same each time. Me personally i measure under the round or threaded part of hub in a range of 0 to -2 at the front & -2 to -4 at the rear, just depends on conditions & what im trying to achieve.

I measure on the threaded round part but try to keep my gauge as close to the hub as possible (radio on). Camber effects your readings alot so I try to stay in. I just like an accurate reading so my setups are repeatable, otherwise I'd just use shock length.

Don't sweat it if your allways off 1mm side to side. The faster guys, who's cars I've checked, have their droop inconsistant side to side because they often use shock length for the measurement and thats often +/-2mm at the hub.
