Doods,
I just got an XT8 and its cool but the battery is like something from the dark ages. Those stick packs are just too small for a long days racing.
I run an X1-CRT also and use Ballistic batteries AA hump packs.
I managed to fit this into the XT8 box by dremelling the lip off and rotating the pack into where the RX is normally located, and then placing the RX on its side where the battery normally goes. But it would be easier if you just provided a new lid you could fit it in no problems and it would fit alot better. Hong Nor/Jammin did this and it was excellent.
Yadda Yadda about the weight balance of the truck etc and don't start the reply with Lipo's as they are nothing but trouble in my experience.
This is a simple change to the battery box.
These packs are excellent as you can get a huge amount of run time out of them. I not a great driver bad a qualifying but tend to do better in the actual races and in one race I bumped up 4 races which with the old style pack for get it. I ran 20 minutes of heats and 45 minutes of racing without having to charge anything. Or drivers with big servos not geting laps because the batteries they have can't handle the current draw of the newer Ace Digital servos -> not in my shop chuck.
here is a pic showing how I have it now, the hump 5th battery is sitting under the bar, with a new lid I can stand it up right and be happy
So come on Xray doods get this mold done
BTW Parts availability in the UK is really poor I have to order from NL and US, time to get mirage to sell directly like CML now have done.
Cheers,
Neil.
