Well springs cost a few bucks, a flywheel with a big scratch will bother you forever and costs more than a few bucks. Go the safe route, load up on clutch springs and do it the right way. If you are new to nitro, I would suggest that you get the engine guru in your area to help tune your motor before drilling holes in shoes. |

So you think the stock XB8 clutch with the 1.0 springs should be just fine without having to drill? |

I have never had to lighten an aluminum shoe, I do lighten carbons at times though. Granted I have not used the Xray clutch yet, and I believe their length of shoes is different than the other companies out there. This could cause earlier engagement. I could have sworn that someone posted on the grid that 1.1's on this clutch felt like 1.0's from other clutches. I will have more testing soon enough though. Try changing springs first is what I would do and work on the engine tune, once you drill holes your stuck with them ![]() |
