With the shocks angled on the rear with the long stand offs, this is helping the shock pack up quicker.

The short stand offs the angle of the shocks is like this

The shock does less work.

So I'll stick with this and you can do what you like, but its just the Engineer in me trying to get out

Leave the fornt stand offs short

I've had my XT8 since mid January and raced every weekend. I agree the shocks are not up to par.

I do not run the felt shims because the grip the shock shaft hen being bled making it hard to get them even. However, this cause dirt to get in past the O rings causing contamination of the shock oils and leaks. Then I tried the outerwears shock covers. Gave me two weeks instead of one. On the weekend the 3 qualifiers were 20 mins which lifted the wheel time dramatically. By the end of the main air and dirt had made it's way into the shocks therefore leaving little dampening effect. I was effectively running with just springs....

I came third, but could have done better.

Sunday night I did a search for Jammin Super big bores and bought 2 X sets for $75 + shipping each on e-bay. Cheapest around.

If you own an X ray this is the second most required upgrade after the two piece engine mount.

This is a long post and can't remember if I read anything about the pivot balls. Which ones are you using Ofna or Xray? You have not noted this in your first post....

I ordered the short stand offs and screws etc. Do I need new X ray pivot balls as well?

Please reply quickly as I have an A-main order pending.

I'm ordering the GMK hole thing to drill them out to 1.35 as suggested. Have you tried different piston sizes?

Can you measure the diameter and length of the rear shafts. If the Jammin's are a little shorter, as suggested, I want to see if the existing X ray shafts will fit making them longer or perhaps order the Mugen shafts.

Whoever suggested the Mugen rear shafts - Have you tried this?

I tried the xray pivot balls and measured them, they are smaller and rattle in the rod end before installation, of course theres no play in the arm.
