XRAY - Model racing cars

Just thought Id share a little experiment I did with my old EC buggy.

I have been running my 808 with an electric setup, but some events will not allow electric and some are now finally having 2 classes electric and nitro. I wanted a buggy to run in the nitro events so I dug out my old EC buggy and set it up. Then used a few of the 808 spares I had in the pit box that I dont ever seem to need and gave it a little upgrade.

Upgraded to the 808 big bore shock, added the 808 shock towers and now the geometry is very similar to the 808 shock setup. The holes are in almost the same place on the arms when holding the 808 arms next to the EC arms. Then with the 808 front tower on there I replaced the EC front upper wishbone style arm with the 808 style link upper arm. I figured if big bores and the upper arm link made such a huge difference in the handling of the XT8 it could probably help the EC buggy too.

The thing handles like a new buggy. I still need to do some work dialing in the setup, but I took it out for some practice time on Sunday and it really surprised me how big of a improvment it was. Made the buggy much more stable and handled the rough track I usually race on beautifully. The thing jumps like a dream too. It springs off the jumps and flys super flat and very predictable. Almost better than my 808.

Anyway, I just thought I'd share. If anyone has an older EC and wants to breath some new life into it I'd recomend trying this. I am really happy with the results of this so far. And it was basically free for me since I just raided the spares bin on my 808 to do it. LOL I never need these parts anyway.

Rear shock tower and shocks. I had to drill a couple extra holes in the 808 rear tower to mount it to the EC rear chassis brace, but other than that this was all a drop in upgrade.
