Can the foroni shocks operate correctly on the EC? I've drive cars with them and they feel awsome. I dont know how long the XRay Big Bores will take to come out.

Any input is appreciated.

Hello ClintF,

The EC Shock bore is already quite big, it is 14mm inside diameter.

While as far as I know, Fioroni Shock has 13mm inside diameter.

So, as far as Fioroni offer bigger than our own EC shock bore, I believe there is no advantage to offer.. :)

Cheers..

Bahhhh never mind Fioronis! Check out the Kellum Machine Works Big Bores for the XB8. It has a 15.5mm ID and uses mostly stock XRay parts except for pistons and bladders (Losi 8ight). They're PRICEY though! They're 149.99 for the set!! But they're the heaviest of heavy duty. The 6-hole pistons are made of silicon bronze! Man they're tempting me soooo bad!!! :D There's a pic on EBay of an EC that has them installed. Not the best pic it gives you an idea. I wish I had the money!

regards

Are those KMW shocks that great?

If they are killer compared to stock and fit perfectly I will get them.

Any more thoughts on those compared to stock EC shocks?

I am in the process of stocking up on spares and was going to just buy a 2nd set of the EC shocks dispite the talk of a big bore upgrade in the future. These KMW would be a better choice if this is the case because they sound like they would be better or as good as any future upgrade from Xray.

I would have to figure out what oils to run though since I never had a 6 hole piston but I imagine some where like 900cst in the fronts and 800 in the rear compared to the 700/500 I run now with 4 hole pistons.

Not sure why nobody has talked about these because other members have fitted Kyosho shocks ect and these are a direct fit to the buggy.

Yep As Kinsey was saying, the KMW's are ok shocks. They seem to lack smoothness through a race day and another default on them is there shock caps. Other than that the KMW's are ok. I would stick with the EC shocls though. There consistant and smooth throughout a whole 5 day race trip.

Good to know, and thanks again for saving me money.

Looks like Xray is the way to go right now for the EC shocks.

Hand made is pretty crazy for something that requires such precision. Doesnt sound like they are all that great then.

I guess what started this is my motor went out a couple of weekends ago while racing. I didn't bring any spares. A friend of mine let me race his Kyosho with the big bore, and D*** that thing handled awsome. I went from 39 sec. laps with the EC to consistent 37 sec. lap times with a car I had never driven before. It had such a "planted" feel to it I was amazed!!

I am trying to get that out of the EC as I have a room full of spare parts for XRay. (not that I need them)

What about the Mugen shocks? Has anyone tried these? I have a set in the mail to see what happens (they are 1/2 the price of the K Big Bores). I guess if this doesn't work my buddy is going to let me borrow his Kyosho one.
